Clueless first time bbqer with questions?

i've never bbq a day in my life and for the fitst time my husband (also clueless) and i want to have our first bbq. we plan on buying a charcoal grill and want to cook chicken and burgers. so here are my questions...using foil on the grill, what is the purpose of it and how will that affect the cooking results? how long should i cook the chicken? how do i prevent my food from getting dried out? how do i clean the grill ? do i have to do anything to the charcoal while the food is cooking? any other information will be very helpful.Clueless first time bbqer with questions?
I think you should goto youtube and checkout the video tutorials. I've also found a few at http://www.grilldemon.com/forum/viewforu鈥?/a>

If you have an iphone, checkout the Weber's On the Grill app. It features 250 classic Weber recipes plus 40 recipes for rubs, marinades, and sauces that are sure to get you fired up to get out and grill

first off to light the grill, you need butane to help start the fire... you pour that on first then light the charcoal (BE CAREFUL!). as far as cooking.. burgers are easy, you put them on the actual grill part (no foil) and wait til the juices start rising (reddish color) then flip it, and wait for the juices on the other side and you should get about medium, take them off earlier for a rare or leave them on longer for well-done. Cheese goes on after you cook it to your liking. Chicken... i would google that, but marinating usually helps keep them from getting too dry. Good Luck on your bbq, i hope all goes well! and i hope i helped!!!
